Creative cooking

Politicians + Students = Creative cooking. Here are the recipes.

On February 3, 2025, Hälsinglands Education Association (HEA) conducted an Open Learning Lab (OLL) within the ToNoWaste project (TNW). The theme was "Creative cooking" in collaboration with the Restaurant and Food Programme at Torsbergsgymnasiet Länk till annan webbplats, öppnas i nytt fönster.. Participants were HEA's political board, where all local parties were represented, as well as HEA's president. A total of nine politicians, twelve students, two teachers and two project managers participated.

Program
The day began with two lectures: one on the TNW project and food waste, the other on the ambitions of education, policy documents and the importance of educating young people. As an example of reducing food waste, students and politicians prepared dishes together from things that for various reasons would otherwise have become food waste.

Teachers' comments: "Absolutely incredible, what a response. Partly the topic, why we are doing this, but it is also wonderful to see how the politicians go in with the students and how the students softened up at once. We were otherwise a little worried that it would be a stiff atmosphere," says Niklas Granrud, teacher in the restaurant and food program.

Local TNW leaders: The whole day went according to plan. The cooperation between students and politicians worked well. New ideas were born. Working together in practice relaxes you and a good working climate makes it easy to acquire new knowledge.
